After talking to a counselor I have been seeing for a long time, he suggested I go to church. I rolled my eyes a bit and agreed. He told me to go to a “seeker church”. In simpler terms, it’s the type of church people who are looking to start their journey of faith go to.
I will admit, my first impression of the church when I went to the gathering location for the first time was “this is different”. The gathering location was at the local high school and the service was in the school’s auditorium. Genesis Church was a church without a physical base of operations. I never knew a church that didn’t have a building of its own.
I learned quickly that a church is not a place, it is a people united by faith. Before every service, a team set everything up. And after the service, they packed everything up and made it look like they were never there come Monday morning. I never knew a church organization could be nomadic. At least these days I didn’t think it was possible that a church could be nomadic.
