Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde,
many people have heard
that story.
We call it “Fiction”,
an impossibility,
when the situation
it refers to is very real.
The formula part
may be impossible,
but the scenario
is more common
than you think.
A good person,
with a great darkness
hidden inside them.
I know the scenario is real,
because I live it.
My conscious mind strives
to be a good person,
while I have a demon
trying to break free.
So much anger
built up over the years.
I have no just reason
to keep it, let alone
consider using it today.
Revenge is no longer
a worthwhile cause.
I don’t know what to do.
I know I can’t
just release in the open.
I can’t continue
to be a living prison
for the rest of my days.
I feel I am far
from being a romantic,
so finding a relationship
is unlikely.
I want to be free
of this darkness.
Maybe that was Jekyll’s reason
for the creation of the formula
that brought Hyde into existence.
He wanted freedom,
but he only made
the situation worse.
I hope I don’t have
to face the same fate
as the original Jekyll.
